I have been saving Chinese New Year ideas on my Pinterest board. This is our second year that we are learning about Chinese New Year traditions and deciding which ones we can include into our celebration. I wanted to share a few of my favorites so far, especially when it comes to crafts to do with your children and sensory ideas.
Stimulating Learning with Rachel shared a great sensory bin idea to explore various traditions related to Chinese New Year. Red envelopes, “chop sticks” and rice as the base look great!
Laughing Kids Learn, shares a great recipe for playdough and this time it comes with a Chinese New Year twist. My children are able to listen to a book better when fidgeting, and playdough could be used to help with concentration as well.
Rubber Boots and Elf Shoes has created another adorable sensory bin. My children would be excited for anything with pandas, so this is a winner!
The Elementary School Counselors have a cute fire breathing dragon craft that could be a great fit for Chinese New Year. The wonderful thing about this activity is that children can practice self regulation or calming skills with this dragon.
Holidappy has many adorable printables to help with crafting ideas. 2017 is the Year of the Rooster and this website has a great collection of rooster crafts.
Creative Family Fun has a tutorial to create your own Chinese rattle drum. We bought some in China but these would be fun to create with friends.
Nurture Store has a tutorials on these lanterns, a traditional aspect of a Chinese New Year celebration.
